Listing Description

I had a reunion with some old friends and they rely on me to choose a venue for our once a year get together. I chose Alyn Williams at the Westbury in Bond St. as it was new to me and the son of The Sartorial Lieutenant , is one of their chefs –Ben Allen. So my expectations were high and I wasn’t disappointed.

Getting in is easy as everything is on one level from Taxi to restaurant. The lush carpet may be an issue for stick users but that is nothing to complain about. The tables were a good height for my wheelchair and I have to say I felt comfortable and unobtrusive.

We started with the House Champagne and some beautiful cheese puff balls as an ‘amuse bouche’. I had the chicken wings with truffles as a starter, they were deconstructed so no bones and again they were delicious. The bass with crayfish followed for me and I can’t remember what my companions had but I know they were impressed that there was a full A La Carte Vegetarian menu. The desserts were inventive and we had a deconstructed cream tea and their take on a ‘Walnut Whip’. Both were very ‘more-ish’. The wine list was extensive so we relied on the Sommelier for his choice and as per normal, I had too much of what was an excellent Chablis – I think??!!

It’s a little expensive but we ‘re going back to try a full vegetarian meal which looks very different to the normal offerings.     Not being a veggie it will be first for me. I’ll report back as and when.

Finally the disabled toilet is also on the same level and has everything you need. Above all this is a stylish place where being disabled is unremarkable. There was no fuss and their only concern was whether we enjoyed the meal. They get 3 BBS Ticks.
