Antipodea is highly recommended by Time Out so we thought we’d give it a go this Bank Holiday. It’s part of the Brew Café chain and

“An all-day Australian brasserie that converts from a laid back Melbourne affair to a hustle and bustling night time dining spot”.

Time Out said

“Go ASAP, and book ahead – Kew’s little secret is out”.

It was certainly full at lunch-time and there was definitely a ‘laid back’ vibe but nevertheless the service was attentive. The food was good but we couldn’t see where the Australian influence came in- maybe it was the open kitchen? We had moules frites and an excellent few glasses of wine, recommended by the waiter. The atmosphere was busy and they played the obligatory 80’s/90’s soundtrack that you hear anywhere that’s trendy at the moment. It was well lit with lots of natural daylight and although busy we could hear each other.

More Room at Back For a More Private Experience, Near The Open Kitchen & Fire

There are 2 very steep steps at the entrance and no portable ramp – the phrase ‘it’s Grade II Listed’ was heard and got my usual response of B***S***! However, the staff were very adept at carrying a wheelchair. Once in, the flooring is smooth and although long and narrow there was plenty of room to manoeuvre. Even more surprising for a small place there was a disabled toilet!
