Listing Description

Casa Cruz came to our attention as the latest ‘hip’ place to go in West London – as opposed to the uber hip Shoreditch and East London. This was a couple of years ago and we’re not sure it still has all the ‘hip’ qualities but is more (as per the review in the Tatler) a place for ‘Beauty, brains, money, fashion and toffs…’ with a…… ‘leafy cum Buenos Aires nightclub feel’.

Opened in what was a gastropub by Juan Santa Cruz, a Chilean-born, former investment banker who has three glamorous restaurants in Buenos Aires: Aldo’s, Isabel and the original Casa Cruz. The place is famous for its clientele (Victoria Beckham, Eva Longoria, Roger Vivier, Zac Posen) and copper interior, rather than its food. Typically the menu has starters around £18 and mains at £36 so not cheap and we suspect it’s more a place to drink and party at night with cocktails that start at £12.

There is an upstairs terrace but it’s not accessible. The front door is said to be accessible but not sure how you get over the front steps and there’s no disabled toilet as they are all downstairs. You’d think a rich investment banker and his designers from www.santacruzco.com, who are

“a fully integrated firm dedicated to the complete design, development, and operation of high end restaurants and bars “

would find a way to put in some accessible features. Nevertheless it definitely has style so they get an unaudited 1.5 BBS Ticks.
