Listing Description

UPDATE 2016 – we’ve started hearing some differing stories about the accessibility at DSTRKT. We’ve been told that they may not let wheelchairs into the club. Apparently they have been telling people that although they haven’t got a problem with wheelchair users, they can’t let them in. Although they have denied this, it doesn’t add up with their supposed accessibility.

Here’s what they sent us in 2013. It’s the training manual for staff:

DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION ACT

As you know we have conducted a series of assessments aimed at looking at our business and how it impacts disabled customers.

The assessments are split into different categories, I have done the same below and we all need to be aware of how we can make a visit to ember far less stressful and more enjoyable for someone with disabilities.

Provisions of services

We need to recognize people who may require our assistance. This can be some one who appears to be struggling to read the menu or some one in a wheel chair requiring assistance into the building. Something we must always be aware of though is that people do not always want help, we need to ask them if they require any help before we try and help them.

A big part of this section is staff being prepared to offer service from the table but this is something that we do at all times anyway.

Security and Management may require notice from receptionists that we have a person with a disability in the venue. This is for the sake of health and safety and should be communicated with discretion.

Getting into the building

Our entrance grants disabled accesses directly from the street.

We have a disabled lift that grants step free accesses to all floors including, main bar, cloak room, disabled toilet and restaurant.

Toilets

We do ensure that our disabled toilet is cleaned to the same standard and frequency as our other toilets.

The disabled toilet is not to be used as a storage area.

Our disabled toilet is of a large enough size and suitability.

Buying a drink or meal.

Our menu is only available in one format, with no braile or large font available. We need to be aware that we may need to read the menu to people upon request. A proactive attitude is to be adopted were assistance is offered if deemed appropriate.

Table service again is something that is extremely helpful to certain guests but again this is something that is available. Any suggestions or complaints must be passed on to Management to chase up and change our process where necessary and if possible.

Emergency procedures

This section is covered by our fire procedure, we do however have to bare in mind that some of our guests may need help in exiting the building and that help should be given. Also our fire alarm is an audible alarm only so guests with hearing impairments again may require our help.

————————————————————————————————————————————–

DSTRKT is a club in London and was voted Best New Restaurant and Club in 2012. Georgi Yaneff is the chef at DSTRKT serving “an innovative modern american menu” and the best bit is you can stay long after dinner as the restaurant becomes a club and you can party on!

We haven’t been there yet but we’ve found out that they have great disabled access, with a lift from the reception to the club. Once in the club it is mainly flat and they have a fully equipped disabled toilet!

DSTRKT gets a provisional 2.5 BBS Ticks
