Listing Description

Frederick’s is somewhere I used to visit when I was more mobile. I stopped going as the old place was difficult with sticks or a wheelchair but now it’s a new improved version. However it’s still on the cobbled street of Camden Passage but there are a few car parking spaces nearby.

It’s now more light and airy with a definite ‘buzz’ about the place. The food is good but not exceptional but I do recommend the salt and pepper squid. The wine list is extensive and they have a unique corking system that allows you to try a single glass of the more expensive wines – we liked that! Time Out said,

“The slightly ritzy plush of Frederick’s entrance cocktail bar, the surprising spaciousness of the dining room beyond, …. the lofty conservatory and pretty hidden garden alongside – all come together to convey the idea that a meal here is a bit of a treat.”

I would agree as the space is great although access to the garden would need a wheelchair lift i.e. by the waiters. The restaurant and bar access is OK once you get the portable ramp for the step at the entrance. Their disabled toilet is in the cocktail bar at the front so not altogether discreet.

I did like it as the overall experience was friendly and accommodating and it was the ‘treat’ to which Time Out referred. We give them 2.5 BBS Ticks.
