Listing Description

Update 2023: The Glasshouse is now Hawthorn under new management and chef Josh Hunter (co-owner).

Still a neighbourhood restaurant with a touch of class. The textured gold walls make it feel luxe and the service is friendly and efficient.  The food is very similar and at £65 for 3 courses is in line with many London restaurants. The dish to be tried is the Bramley Apple Soufflé. The toilets are still downstairs and the Pizza Express opposite has disappeared so not sure where the nearest DT is. Probably at the nearby Fullers pub next to Kew gardens Tube.

Hawthorn Has a Slightly Cobbled Road up to the Door Where There’s a Small Lip to Enter
Interior is Smooth Floors & Brightly Lit. Can be Noisy But There are Quiet Areas

Having lived near Chiswick for many years my favourite local (and in fact one of my all time greats!), is La Trompette in Devonshire Rd. It is part of the group run by Bruce Poole of Chez Bruce fame.

The other restaurant in the group is The Glasshouse at Kew. All serve brilliant food and La Trompette is my favourite as it is easy to access either walking with a stick or in a wheelchair,  and has a lovely disabled toilet. The decor is  modern Armani style brown/grey and the staff are extremely helpful. The Glasshouse has equally good food but is not so easy to access as there are cobbles to negotiate on the way in. There is no disabled toilet but they do have an arrangement with Pizza Express, which is nearby, regarding their facilities.

The original in the Group is Chez Bruce and I have yet to go there but again they assure me it is accessible and has a disabled toilet. My ENT Consultant assures me the food is excellent!!

La Trompette gets 3 BBS Ticks , The Glasshouse gets 2.5 BBS Ticks and Chez Bruce gets a provisional 2.5 BBS Ticks.
