The Jack In The Green is a top quality restaurant/gastropub in Devon, just outside Exeter. They describe the food as ‘modern British’, with alternative and innovative takes on classic pub dishes as well as some more creative recipes thrown in for good measure. It’s all pretty good value for money too with the ‘Totally Devon’ menu offering three courses for £25.

The Jack comes highly recommended. There’s near complete consensus that this is a brilliantly priced pub, punching above its weight. Some of the accolades it’s accrued include being given the Michelin Bib Gourmand as well as continued inclusion in the 2011 Good Food Guide, Alastair Sawday’s Recommended Pubs, Harden’s and the latest Trencherman’s Restaurant Guide. In October 2010, the Jack was ranked 52nd in the UK’s Top 100 Restaurants.

The access is OK by and large. A slight problem is that there’s a small lip to get into the building. But otherwise there aren’t any accessibility issues which should be a problem. There is a disabled toilet.
