Listing Description

If you didn’t get enough to please your tastebuds at Xmas here’s a restaurant to try…

Kai, Chinese Restaurant, has been a stalwart of the Mayfair dining scene since 1993 and during this time they have been awarded a Michelin Star (2009-2015). They hit The Sunday Times Food List for ‘Britain’s Top 100 Restaurants’, 2015 Edition, and are the ‘Highest Ranked Chinese Restaurant’. Looking at their website video, the food definitely doesn’t resemble your standard UK Chinese. Being in Mayfair it’s expensive with starters at £12-£22 with the exception of a whole Abalone at £85, a shellfish delicacy that’s an acquired taste (bit too slimy for mine). However the lunchtime ‘Tasting Plates’ menu at £15 looks a good deal and probably well worth the money as according to Timeout they have ,

“successfully introduced diners to a stylised take on Chinese cuisine. “

The review from Bhavni, friend of BBS, also suggests it’s worth a visit:

“Delicious food and atmosphere. The restaurant has recently invested in a manual ramp! Will be going again soon.”

Unfortunately they don’t have a disabled toilet as they’re downstairs, but at least with a ramp they made one ‘reasonable adjustment’ for people with disability. As a result they get 2BBS Ticks (the highest without a disabled loo).
