This week I had to go for a routine appointment at Charing Cross Hospital, everything went well until I left and being pushed along the pavement we were stopped by this:

It was an uneven pavement compounded by a slab that was loose and was raised by a good 5cm. Good job I don’t have a bad back because the jolt on hitting it would’ve exploded any airbag in a car. Definitely a shock and something we should add to our Ridiculous Ramps & Quasi Khasi Campaigns – maybe “Pavement Pits” or “Mean Streets”. Any ideas or photos gratefully received here!

On a much better note I was taken to Kopapa in Covent Garden. Part owned and heavily influenced by Peter Gordon ‘the Father of Fusion Cuisine’. If anyone went to his restaurant the Sugar Club you’ll know what to expect, unusual, much imitated and tasty food.

This is another casual, all day eatery, (see my previous reviews) that are the latest thing in London. However, just because it’s all day doesn’t mean it’s substandard cuisine. The small plates are the best, especially the ‘Deep-fried Urfa chilli & sesame salted squid & sumac aïoli’, the Grilled Chorizo and the Polenta Battered Cod (It think that’s it??). Oh and the dessert of ‘Chocolate & sea salt caramel sundae, tamarind ice cream & popcorn’, wasn’t bad either. Additionally it had flat access, bar a small trip-up lip at the door, and the most well equipped disabled toilet I’ve seen for a long time – 5 grab rails no less. They get 2.5 BBSTicks

Finally to get away from my obsession with Disabled Toilets and wheelchair off-roading (see above), I’ve been invited to do some wheelchair sailing via Bob Rayment, see his FB Page, and the Gwennili Trust, so look out for my adventure some time when the weather improves.
