Listing Description

The 3 BBS Ticks are the gold standard for style and accessibility. Today we’re giving out 3 Ticks for the following…

BBS

What To See

I recently went to see the Oscar nominated film WHIPLASH and it was brilliant, even if you’re not a fan of Jazz or drumming. If J.K. Simmons doesn’t win an Oscar for his biting, mesmerising and intelligent performance I’ll never watch the Oscars again (I’m sure they’ll miss me?). It’s all about being the best you can be; a perfect film of a simple story of boy meets mentor from hell and you were gripped from beginning to end. It’s now one of my all time Top 10 films as I left the cinema feeling exhilarated and in love with Jazz. I loved it so much I’ve bought the soundtrack and it’s inspired us to host an event ……………….

BBS What To Do

The BBS Concert is happening on 14th April at St. Georges Church Bloomsbury (it is accessible even though it’s built in the 18th century). It’s a beautifully restored Hawksmoor church and is going to host the musical event of the year – we want all our readers to come and support us. It will feature Jazz, Soul, Funk, Folk and Classical music from new ‘up & coming’ composers and musicians. The Aldwych Sinfonia will also be in attendance along with a champagne reception to celebrate the launch of our new Website & App but more of that in the coming weeks….

Where To Go

After the BBS Concert recommended nearby eateries include Hubbard & Bell in Holborn which we recently reviewed and gave 2 BBS Ticks or 32 Great Queen Street which is nearer Covent Garden, also with 2 BBS Ticks. A new addition to the area is The Mirror Room at The Rosewood Hotel, also in Holborn . It’s very stylish and pricey but nevertheless a treat worth trying. The set lunch was £28 for 2 courses and the Bavette Steak was perfectly cooked. This was followed by a Blueberry Clafoutis from the sweet trolley (known as the Sweet Counter) which was just one of an impressive selection of beautiful desserts.

It was lavish with mirrors on the ceiling plus matt black, roman columns in the corridor and the service impeccable as you’d expect from a luxury hotel. They not only cut up my steak for me but the chef came and asked me afterwards if the pieces were the correct size. The hotel is totally accessible with smooth flooring throughout and the disabled toilet is down a short corridor off the restaurant and lift lobby. The only issue is the cobbled courtyard at the front of the hotel but there is a smooth pavement surround and taxis can park and drop off close to the entrance. The Mirror Room gets and extravagant 3 BBS Ticks to fit in with its luxurious glamour.

So please come to the concert we’d love to meet you all on 14th April……. It is promising to be a 3 BBS Tick event!!
