In our quest to find the latest restaurants and bars we’ve been drawn to the latest hotspot in London – Peckham. The area used to be a no-go ghetto/suburb due to the proliferation of gangs, drugs and knife crime. Now the only knives you see are in the hands of chefs occupying the proliferation of restaurants in the area, attracted by the young creative crowd that have re-located en masse, as Shoreditch becomes too expensive except for the rich kids who want to be ‘Hipsters’ or ‘Shordies’ as I like to call them – see the definition here. We’ve already reviewed Frank’s Cafe/Rooftop Bar and the restaurant Artusi but here’s another that caught our attention, the Peckham Refreshment Rooms described by The Evening Standard as a

‘Barcelona-meets-rustic-French tapas menu’.

the menu is very reasonable with starters at around £4-£7 and the most expensive item we could find is Monkfish tail, Curried Mussels, Samphire at £16. Open all day it appears from the images to be accessible – we’re waiting to hear back as to whether this is the case.

One other plus point about Peckham is that disabled parking is very good. Here’s where you can park,

Pay and display bays – free of charge and without time limit
Shared use (permit holders or pay and display) – free of charge and without time limit
Waiting restrictions (single or double yellow lines) – for up to three hours, providing the clock card is displayed which is set to your time of arrival………

So there’s now no reason not to go and explore Peckham!
