Last Saturday I had to go solo to a comedy gig at The Soho Theatre , Dean St., (don’t worry I did meet Lieutenant No.1 in the bar). I went to see Brett Goldstein in his show ‘Brett Goldstein: Grew Up In A Strip Club’. I missed him last year at The Edinburgh Festival and he has since had great reviews for this one man show/stand up.

It was a great story with plenty of ‘laugh out loud’ moments as well as a certain amount of pathos and black comedy. Not only would I strongly advise going to see Brett but I would highly recommend the Soho Theatre. It is in the heart of Soho, showing comedy, theatre and cabaret. It is refreshingly disabled friendly with easy access, a lift, plenty of disabled seats & toilets, room for Guide Dogs, a hearing loop system and a full access guide.

The bar is a little difficult to negotiate as it’s usually very busy and the booth seating is rather unsociable, as in a wheelchair you are at thigh level! A minor issue, as I give this theatre 2.5+ BBS Ticks. It is a great example of ‘inclusion’ in terms of people with disabilities. I would have no problem going on my own to another show at this venue.
