A reader asked us if the Imperial Hotel in Tenby was accessible. On finally making contact it appears not as there are stairs throughout the hotel and the ‘accessible’ room had a lip/step into the shower. However we did refer them to St. Brides, Hotel & Spa….

We have stayed at St Brides hotel and with relatively newer construction it was more accessible. Located overlooking the beach at Saundersfoot, near Tenby, there’s definitely a beautiful view with the floor to ceiling windows.

We don’t have any images and we’re awaiting their response and here’s what they did send:

‘I am pleased to confirm that we do have an accessible room here at St Brides Spa Hotel. Our disabled access room is in the Best Non Seaview category and is one of the largest rooms in the hotel. It is situated on the ground floor and can be accessed directly from the lift.

It provides a lowered bed for ease of access, and a wet room en-suite. There is a hand held shower as well as a mounted shower head, and a hand rail in the en-suite situated near to the toilet. We can also provide a shower chair for you should you wish.

We do have sea view rooms that are accessible from the lift although they do have either a bath over the shower, or a separate bath and shower but not a wet room. They do not have the lowered bed but we would be more than happy to provide a step in the room as an aid should you require.

On request we can provide a wheelchair for a refundable fee.’

The Telegraph gave them a 9/10 and said it is

‘One of the most striking coastal escapes in Wales…………the clean and contemporary aesthetic is like a gulp of fresh sea air’ .

We give them 2.5 BBS Ticks because of the view and their disabled room. Would have been the maximum 3 but the accessible room does NOT have a sea view!
