The STRAF is an super-stylish upmarket hotel in Milan. It’s ideally located in the centre of the city, making it convenient for sight-seeing and – all importantly in Milan – shopping.

The hotel features the designs of Vincenzo De Costiis, who puts a seriously cool, minimalist feel into all of the rooms. Each room contains it’s own work of art to supplement the industrial slate, brass and steel surroundings of the hotel. The STRAF also features what Time Out describes as a ‘cooler-than-thou‘ bar with a great selection of creative and classic cocktails.

Unfortunately, the hotel doesn’t seem to have any specific disabled rooms with grab rails in the bathrooms. The bar is more accessible, with a disabled toilet on the first floor, which can be reached using the lift. It may be more practical to visit the bar than to stay in the hotel.

It’s also worth mentioning that the staff there have been very helpful in providing us with the all the information we asked for (especially compared to some of the other similar hotels in Milan). This tends to suggest they have good customer service and would go out of there way to help out with accessibility issues that might come up.

The hotel offers great style and service and is right where you want to be in Milan, but there are, unfortunately, some problems with access. Considering all of this the STRAF gets a provisional 2.5 BBS Ticks.
