Listing Description

The Town Hall Hotel is a Grade II-listed Edwardian building, which was Bethnal Green’s old town hall. Dating back to 1910, it has won numerous architectural awards for it’s multi million pound restoration. It has retained many of the expensive Edwardian & Art Deco features – Local Councils obviously had more money in those days?? I can’t wait to visit as it sounds amazing, and the restaurants with Chef Nuno Mendes, who worked at El Bulli, (which is now closed but is often referred to as the originator of ‘Molecular Gastronomy’), also sound fantastic.

It should be noted that there are 2 entrances to the hotel, one with stairs and another with a ramp. There are a number of disabled rooms with walk in showers and I’m advised there’s plenty of room for wheelchairs. But they are yet to be inspected by BBS.

The Town Hall Hotel’s restaurants are: Viajante, a Michelin-starred restaurant which is the more formal one and the cooking , according to The Guardian is “brave and adventurous and magic”; the less formal one is the Corner Room and it has just won a Michelin Bib Gourmand for it’s “exquisite and artful dishes”. Both are accessible and have disabled toilets.

The Town Hall hotel & restaurants just have to have provisional 3 BBS Ticks for inventiveness and for paying attention to the needs of the ‘Less Able’.
