Listing Description

A few weeks ago I and the American Lieutenant went to Shoreditch to update my previous review. There was too much ‘trendiness’ to see in one visit. We started at The Hoxton, Urban Lodge – one of the most disabled aware places I have ever been. I will review in full later, needless to say they get 3 BBS Ticks. We had coffee there and then went to the Great Eastern Dining Room for a drink. Trendy but no disabled toilet and they sent us back to The Hoxton across the street. They get 2BBS Ticks.

We then went to pick up the Sartorial Lieutenant to try out Tramshed from the Hix restaurant group. It was buzzy and different. No real choice re the food – chicken or steak but extremely well done (not the steak -you can obviously choose how you want your ‘Bull’!). Loved it, the chicken gravy was just like ‘Sunday dinner’ flavour. The Lieutenants enjoyed their steaks and helped me finish off the chicken. We got even got a doggy bag for the little that remained and a recipe for chicken soup was included!!

The room is light and airy with great art on the walls and some of the waiters have really interesting prints on their t-shirts. The Damien Hirst ‘Hereford cow and cockerel’ in formaldehyde has to be seen. Definnitely not a place for vegetarians.

Met Mark Hix but I was a bit tipsy on a brandy I was offered and could not refuse, so can’t remember what I said. Probably best not to mention my name!!

There is a level entrance to the ground floor restaurant and there is a lift to the mezzanine floor and the Cock and Bull Library downstairs. Disabled toilet was good looking and clean.

Great lunch experience and Tramshed is awarded the maximum 3 BBS Ticks.

N.B.On the way home we found another place to go, McQueen bar, restaurant and club. Looked dark and glamorous and I will review separately.
